CBD oils are the most potent and unprocessed form of cannabidiol. CBD oil is removed directly from the flowers, stalks and seeds of the hemp plant during the extraction process. The most effective CBD oils are full spectrum, which means that they include all compounds found naturally in the plant, including the cannabinoids (with trace amounts of THC), terpenes and essential oils. Cannabidiol oil (CBD oil) is extracted from the varieties of cannabis plants that have CBD occurring naturally in large amounts and THC in low amounts. To ensure a high concentration of CBD in the oil, a specialized process is used to extract the compound. The oil contains other compounds like terpenes, omega-3 fatty acids, amino acids, chlorophyll, vitamins, and Phytocannabinoids like Cannabigerol, Cannabichromene, Cannabidivarin, and Cannabinol.

You can find CBD oils in a bottle with a dropper. This allows you to ingest the oil by placing it under your tongue, letting it sit for about 15 seconds and then swallowing it. The CBD is then rapidly absorbed into your system. CBD oils can be subdivided into tinctures and concentrates, which are the purest forms of the compound because manufacturers don’t do any separate processing of the CBD oil.

Tinctures are the most common and popular way to use CBD, largely because you can easily gauge exactly how much cannabidiol you are ingesting, like CBD oil. A tincture is usually extracted with alcohol or another solvent. With a tincture, you use a dropper and place the drops under your tongue. Sometimes, manufacturers will use carrier oils, natural flavors or fatty oils in their tinctures to add a bit of flavor, thus making it easier and more enjoyable to use. Similar to oils, the CBD is also absorbed into the user’s system very quickly and they are also the purest applications as manufacturers do not do any separate processing of the oil. Dosages of tinctures are usually high and may range anywhere from 100mg to 1000mg. When using a tincture, the most effective method is to place the drops under your tongue and hold it there as long as possible instead of swallowing the liquid immediately.

Like tinctures, CBD concentrates are ingested by placing drops under your tongue. But CBD concentrates typically contain the strongest doses of CBD compared to any other product. Some concentrates can contain up to 10x the concentration of other CBD products. The high potency isn’t ideal for beginners who should start with a low dose and see how they respond. Also, a turnoff to some users may be the fact that CBD concentrates usually are not flavored and they might not find the natural CBD flavor desirable.
